Car wheel damage can range from a hairline crack to a hole in the barrel of the wheel. Very bad curb damage can take large chunks out of the face of the wheel. We are able to repair most damage to alloy wheels. Below are the most common types of damage and our usual cost for repair.
We will always discuss the damage with the customer and confirm a quote for the cost of repair before we carry out the work.

Small cracks
The most common wheel damage that needs welding are small cracks. Often in the back of the wheel, you may not even realise you have a crack, a clue is if you are loosing tyre pressure regularly.
As with all wheel repairs the tyre will be removed, we will grind out and clean the damaged area and with high grade ali rod refill the alloy wheel. The newly welded repair will then be smoothed and reshaped to match the rim. If the crack is in the back of the wheel the repair itself will be hidden from view, however if the crack is on the front you may want to consider a refurb to restore the wheel to like new condition.

Large damage such as holes or extensive wheel face repair
High impact damage can be repaired, however a lot more time will be needed to fix things such as holes or serious damage to the face of the wheel. In case such as these not only is more welding required but a lot of work on reshaping and reforming the wheel.
Often with extreme damage there will be the need to straighten the wheel too (see our buckle repair page for more information). The cost to repair a very badly damaged wheel can vary a lot and we will talk you through the repair and price before we carry out the work.

Chunk repair
Large impact into curbs can often break chunks off of wheels, usually on the face. Using all of our skill and experience we can fill and reshape the damage and with a refurbishment a once broken wheel can look like new again.

Multiple cracks or buckles
There are many cases where a wheel will have more than one area of damage. We will always fully inspect wheels and report back to the customer will a full breakdown of damage and costing to repair. We stick to our quotes so you never need to worry about unexpected or higher cost once we have quoted.
Usually where there is multiple repairs to be carried out we charge for the biggest and then add a nominal fee to repair any other damage. Eg, a hole in the barrel and a rear buckle, we may charge £65 for the hole and a further £15 for the buckle.
